PLAYA BLOOM

Playa Bloom is a beach-inspired work that reflects Kori Gabs’ lifelong connection to the ocean. Growing up in Southern California and immersed in surf culture, Gabs’ practice has been profoundly shaped by the rhythms of the sea and the shoreline.

The tans and whites within the work evoke soft, neutral sand tones, while the blues and greens capture the shifting colors of the ocean. Created across six equally sized canvases, each painted as a distinct beach scene, the piece collectively represents the ever-changing relationship between ocean and shore.

Through Playa Bloom, Gabs explores the harmony and movement of nature, channeling the way beaches continuously transform under the influence of light, tide, and time.
