Nica Bloom

Nica Bloom is an abstract exploration of Nicaragua’s blooming jungles. In this series, Kori Gabs seeks to evoke a sense of transformation—an ever-shifting feeling that mirrors the daily rhythms of the jungle itself.

Painted with acrylic on raw canvas, the works absorb pigment deeply, creating a subtle translucence with each layer of color. This technique allows every piece to be singular, much like the constant variations of light and atmosphere in nature. Greens capture the lush vegetation of Nicaragua’s plantations, while tans, whites, grays, and blacks convey the shifting interplay of light as it moves through the jungle.

Through Nica Bloom, Gabs reflects on the way natural landscapes transform moment by moment, inviting the viewer to experience that same sense of change and renewal.
