Chicama
Chicama
Chicama is an abstract exploration of the legendary wave located in northern Peru. Known as the second longest wave in the world, Chicama can break for over a mile when conditions align—a natural phenomenon that has long captivated surfers.
Kori Gabs experienced this wave firsthand during his travels, an encounter that left a lasting impression. The awe and beauty of Chicama’s vast, unbroken rhythm became both inspiration and subject, merging his deep connection to surfing with his artistic practice.
For Gabs, surfing and waves are more than themes—they are central to his life and creative vision. Chicama embodies this bond, translating the immensity and grace of the ocean into abstract form.
